Telangana Commits ₹2,560 Crore for Hyderabad Regional Ring Road Land Acquisition, Releases First ₹527 Crore

The Telangana government has taken a major step towards accelerating the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) project by committing ₹2,560 crore towards its 50 percent share of the land acquisition cost for the northern corridor.

In the first phase, the government has already deposited ₹527 crore with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), paving the way for faster land acquisition and smoother project execution. The move is expected to significantly boost progress on one of the state’s most important infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity around Hyderabad.

According to sources, the payment decision was finalised after a meeting between NHAI officials and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. During the discussions, the minister reportedly assured officials that the remaining amount would be released in phases as and when required by the highway authority.

The 162-km northern stretch of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road has already seen its alignment finalised. Meanwhile, the Centre has appointed a consultant to prepare the detailed project report for the 201-km southern section, indicating steady progress for the entire corridor.

Officials said the state government has also signed a tripartite agreement for sharing 50 percent of the land acquisition cost. To meet this financial commitment, Telangana has secured a ₹2,000 crore loan from HUDCO through the Telangana Road Development Corporation with state backing.

With the latest transfer, the total amount deposited with NHAI has now reached ₹627 crore, including the ₹100 crore paid during the previous government’s tenure.

Once completed, the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road is expected to transform regional mobility, support industrial growth, and unlock new real estate and logistics opportunities across the city’s peripheral zones.
