Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), an essential player in India’s defense and aerospace landscape, was awarded a sale with a plot size of 7.4 lakh sq. ft. Land plot in Karnataka’s Vemgal Industrial Area for the implementation of a state-of-the-art aircraft manufacturing and final assembly facility.

Stamp duty for the ₹29.34 crore acquisition on behalf of the company, which has an investment of ₹1,000 crore, was initially paid across asset classes, and later `1.45 crore in cash, through Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) TASL will establish maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations at the new facility, reinforcing the company’s position in the global aerospace value chain.

Benefiting from its ideal location on the Kolar-Chikkaballapur Road (SH-96) within the successful 666-acre industrial zone, the site is positioned just 10 km from the city’s critical industrial hubs of Narasapura and Jakkasandra. That site is expected to provide logistical advantages and access to a skilled workforce, making it well-suited to high-tech aerospace activities.

This new facility will play a key role in the government’s “Make in India” charm offensive and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” drive to increase aircraft production within the country and cut down on imports. It will also create significant jobs in the neighbouring region and support local supply chains.

The Vemgal plant construction is expected to start shortly. The facility will contribute to India becoming a major player in the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry, positioning India to meet the growing global demand in this sector.”

With Bengaluru already the nucleus for aerospace and defence research, development and innovation, this expansion will add to Karnataka’s increasing prominence as an epicenter of investments in the aerospace and defence ecosystem. The state lures big names thanks to its bulk infrastructure and industry-friendly policies.
