A budget packed with high aspirations is set to transform Tamil Nadu into a major player in the technology and semiconductor landscape by 2025.

Among the key developments include the construction of the 5 lakh square feet TIDEL Park and the Hosur Knowledge Corridor, to make Hosur a leading technology centre. To this end, it’s a great initiative to bring more jobs for IT and tech companies in the area, leading to economic development.

The government also intends to build a Neo TIDEL IT Park at Virudhunagar and thus extend IT-related infrastructure beyond Chennai and Coimbatore. This is anticipated to contribute to the regional economy as well as give job opportunities for professionals in the discipline.

The Tamil Nadu Semiconductor Movement 2030, a ₹500 crore initiative to boost the state’s semiconductor capabilities, is another step towards fortifying the semiconductor sector. A semiconductor design lab worth ₹100 crore has been announced as part of this project to facilitate chip design and manufacturing innovation and research.

To strengthen Tamil Nadu’s semiconductor sector, the state will set up two semiconductor industrial parks in Sulur and Palladam in Coimbatore on a total area of 200 acres. These parks will create semi-conductor unit infrastructure for investment in the electronics sector providing a boost.

These projects will not only attract business because Tamil Nadu is becoming a master in tech and semiconductors but also create a talent pool and new jobs.
