Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu is set to witness a major industrial push as the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu has begun allocating land at the upcoming SIPCOT Industrial Park. The project, which is expected to transform the district’s industrial landscape, has already seen the allotment of 17 plots covering about 45.87 acres to 10 companies during the first phase of development.

Officials said the companies that have secured land will establish units focused on electric vehicle components, battery manufacturing, spare parts production and other electronic equipment. The industries are expected to start operations by 2028 and will contribute significantly to employment generation in the region. Dharmapuri, which has long been considered an industrially backward district, is expected to benefit from improved economic activity once the industrial park becomes fully operational.

The SIPCOT Industrial Park is planned across nearly 998 acres of land. The entire area has been divided into 56 plots to facilitate better management and phased industrial development. Land acquisition for the first phase covering more than 1,700 acres has already been completed, and authorities have begun infrastructure development to attract more industries.

Several supporting facilities are also being created to improve connectivity and operational efficiency. An approach road connecting the industrial park to National Highway 44 has already been completed at a cost of Rs 12.39 crore. Service roads within the park have also been expanded, while stormwater drain construction is under way across nearly 200 acres of the project site.

Authorities have further sanctioned funds for building minor bridges, administrative facilities and power infrastructure within the park. Plans are in place to establish a 230 kV substation to ensure uninterrupted power supply for industries. With these developments, the SIPCOT Industrial Park is expected to emerge as a major manufacturing hub and strengthen Dharmapuri’s position in Tamil Nadu’s expanding industrial ecosystem.
