PM Modi Launches Rs 2,700 Crore Projects in Puducherry, Reaffirms BEST Vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, dedicated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth more than Rs 2,700 crore in Puducherry, marking a significant push towards infrastructure expansion and inclusive growth in the Union Territory. The initiatives span healthcare, education, clean mobility, urban infrastructure and sustainable development, reflecting a comprehensive approach to long term regional progress.

Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister reiterated his vision of BEST Puducherry, an integrated growth framework built around Business, Education, Spirituality and Tourism. He stated that focused investments and policy support are now translating into visible outcomes across sectors, strengthening Puducherry’s position as a vibrant economic and cultural hub.

Among the major projects is the new engineering block at the National Institute of Technology Karaikal, aimed at enhancing technical education capacity and research infrastructure. The modernisation of the cancer centre at JIPMER is expected to significantly improve access to advanced healthcare services in the region. In addition, three critical care blocks under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission have been launched to upgrade emergency and intensive medical facilities.

Clean and sustainable mobility received a boost with the rollout of electric buses under the PM e Bus Sewa initiative. These buses are expected to reduce urban pollution while improving last mile connectivity. Sewerage and water supply projects were also dedicated, strengthening essential civic infrastructure and improving quality of life for residents.

The combination of education, healthcare, transport and urban development projects underscores a balanced growth strategy. With sustained central support and strategic investments, Puducherry is poised to emerge as a model for integrated and sustainable development in the years ahead.
