
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) launched two high-performance colour-coated steel products Optigal Prime and Optigal Pinnacle with a grand entry in the high-end infrastructure and construction material segment.
These new offerings are under the Optigal brand of AM/NS India and offer first-time availability of European-quality C4-grade corrosion-resistant steel in India, made to order for high-value applications such as airports, railway stations, highways, and coastal buildings. The company already is the only domestic producer of this high-performance steel segment.
The investment is part of the AM/NS India strategy to command a dominant market share in ₹3.4 million tonnes Indian colour-coated steel market, which is growing unabated at a 10% per annum. The company desires 25% market share in the segment in 2–3 years’ time.
Optigal Prime** is specially optimised for city and comparatively corrosive environments, supported by a 15-year warranty. It is also available in high-tech finishes such as Silicon Modified Polyester (SMP), Super Durable Polyester (SDP), and PVDF, and can be utilized for roofing, cladding, and general building purposes.
Optigal Pinnacle, the premium grade, is for harsh marine and industrial uses, with a 25-year warranty. It has high-performance PU/PA coatings that provide excellent UV-ray, moisture, and extreme-temperature protection the one for airports, warehouses, and marine applications.
There are six high-performance finishes High Gloss, Anti-Dust, Anti-Graffiti, Anti-Static, Anti-Microbial, and Cool Roof with intent and potency. The products utilize Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium technology, which offers three times the corrosion protection of conventional coatings.
Produced in Pune in AM/NS India, these products are designed to play their part in helping the ‘Make in India’ initiative as well as green building visions with low VOC emissions, zero heavy metals or hexavalent chromium, and 100% recyclable.

AM/NS India has an annual total volume of 7 lakh tonnes of coated steel and aims to double it to 1 million tonnes.
