The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to develop an 18-kilometer link road joining the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway and the Bengaluru–Kolar Highway (NH 75), with a motive to enhance area connectivity and decongest commuting towards the border of Andhra Pradesh.

The suggested link road will connect the newly opened 68-kilometre stretch of the expressway in Karnataka Hoskote to Bethamangala (KGF) with NH 75, giving motorists direct access and avoiding the need to drive on narrow village or district roads that are being used by motorists after getting off at Bethamangala.

While the stretch in Karnataka is already functional, the rest of the expressway in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu is under construction, with access to full corridor restricted. The forthcoming link is viewed as an important development to bridge this gap.

NHAI officials said that the project would not only improve traffic flow and facilitate toll operations but also spur local economic activity and employment. Progress is in the making to further consolidate the network by upgrading Hoskote–Mulbagal roads, improving the level of integration with NH 75.

Daily traffic on the Hoskote–Bethamangala section has already hit 1,800 to 2,000 vehicles, and officials are expecting an increased volume once the new connection is operational.

The decision is part of growing calls for better inter-state highway connectivity, particularly in relatively high-growth corridors such as Kolar and neighboring Andhra Pradesh zones. The connection is expected to benefit freight as well as passenger transport by reducing the time taken for travel and decongesting alternative routes.

The proposal is so far in the planning stage, with the detailed project reports set to follow shortly.
