The National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCB), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, signed two significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the 18th NCB International Conference and Exhibition on Cement and Concrete at Yashobhoomi, IICC Dwarka. The conference, which runs through 29th November 2024, will conclude with the presentation of National Awards for the best cement plants and Best Paper Awards.
The first MoU was signed between NCB and the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), India. This agreement aims to promote research on decarbonization within the Indian cement sector, an effort that is central to achieving the goal of making the industry “Net Zero” by 2070. Dr. L P Singh, Director General of NCB, and Sh. Manoj Rustagi, Director of GCCA, India, formalized the pact. The partnership will enhance ongoing efforts to reduce the cement sector’s carbon footprint, aligning with India’s climate targets.
The second MoU was signed between NCB and AIC-Plasmatech Innovation Foundation to explore the use of Thermal Plasma Torch Technology in cement production. Dr. L P Singh and Dr. Nirav Jamnapara, Director of AIC-Plasmatech, signed the agreement, which will focus on utilizing this advanced technology to improve cement manufacturing processes, potentially boosting efficiency and sustainability.
Both MoUs reflect NCB’s commitment to advancing innovation and sustainability in the Indian cement industry, paving the way for cleaner and more efficient production methods. These collaborations are vital for driving future advancements, contributing to India’s long-term environmental goals.
