NSL Green Steel Recycling, a unit of JSW Steel, is to increase recycling capacity with the installation of a new high-efficiency scrap shredder at Khalapur. Equipment will be sourced from Italian plantmaker Danieli Technologies.
The shredder will be able to handle more than 100 metric tons of ferrous scrap every hour. The shredder will be able to accept a very broad input of materials such as light-to-medium grade ferrous scrap, sheared demolition trash, and end-of-life automobiles like automobiles and compressed automobile bales.
One of the primary characteristics of the system is its continuous-feed conveyor line, which reduces downtime and provides uninterrupted processing. The facility will also have a sorting mechanism to efficiently separate ferrous and non-ferrous materials, directing the shredded output into a centralized stockpile area.
Shredding the metal is powered by a Danieli-patented inverter that enhances motor productivity and efficiency. The new inverter boosts torque control, especially during intense metal processing, without affecting output speed or performance considerably.
The project demonstrates JSW Steel’s commitment to sustainable steel production and circular economy operations. With the investment in cutting-edge scrap processing units, the company aims to gain high-quality recycled input material and reduce dependency on primary raw materials.
NSL Green Steel Recycling is an important component of JSW Steel’s green steel vision, concentrating on scrap collection, processing, and recycling in all its operations.
