US-based electronics manufacturing services company Jabil is set to make a major investment in Tamil Nadu by establishing a Rs 2,000 crore electronics manufacturing unit at the SIPCOT Industrial Park near Tiruchi. The proposed facility, spread across around 70 acres near Manapparai, is expected to generate employment for nearly 5,000 people, marking a significant milestone for the region’s industrial growth.
The project follows a memorandum of understanding signed between Jabil and the Tamil Nadu government during Chief Minister M K Stalin’s visit to the United States in September 2024. The agreement outlined the company’s intent to expand its manufacturing footprint in India, leveraging Tamil Nadu’s strong industrial base, skilled workforce, and investor friendly policies.
Officials familiar with the development said Jabil representatives recently visited the SIPCOT Industrial Park and reviewed its infrastructure and connectivity. Easy access to ports, highways, and logistics hubs, along with the availability of developed industrial land and basic amenities, played a key role in the company’s decision to finalise Tiruchi as the project location.
This investment is expected to be the first major multinational corporation project at the SIPCOT park near Manapparai, potentially acting as a catalyst for further industrial investments in the central Tamil Nadu region. The presence of a global electronics manufacturer is also likely to strengthen local supply chains and encourage ancillary units to set up operations nearby.
Jabil supplies electronic components and manufacturing solutions to global technology leaders across sectors such as consumer electronics, networking, healthcare, and automotive. The Tiruchi facility is expected to support both domestic requirements and export markets, aligning with India’s broader push to enhance electronics manufacturing and reduce import dependence.
According to officials, the land allotment agreement for the project is expected to be finalised by February 2026. Once operational, the unit is likely to contribute significantly to employment generation, skill development, and regional economic activity, while reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as one of India’s leading destinations for electronics manufacturing investments.
