The long-pending southern stretch of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road is finally moving ahead, offering renewed optimism for Telangana’s infrastructure growth. The Centre has initiated the preparation of the Detailed Project Report, marking a crucial step toward bringing the project closer to execution.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways  confirmed that the proposal for the southern corridor is currently under consideration. He noted that a consultancy has already been appointed and DPR preparation is actively in progress. This development signals a positive shift for a project that has been awaiting movement for several years.

Telangana’s Roads and Buildings Minister  welcomed the Centre’s response and described it as a timely boost for the state. He highlighted that the northern stretch of the RRR has already received approval and is currently in the tendering phase. Progress on the southern segment strengthens the likelihood of completing the entire ring road network, which is expected to significantly transform regional connectivity.

The Hyderabad RRR is designed to ease traffic congestion in and around the city, especially as urban expansion continues at a rapid pace. By diverting heavy vehicular movement away from core city areas, the project will improve travel efficiency and reduce logistics costs. In addition, it is expected to act as a catalyst for industrial growth in peripheral districts, unlocking new opportunities for investment and development.

With both northern and southern corridors expected to integrate seamlessly, the project is poised to reshape the infrastructure landscape of Telangana. The state government has reiterated its commitment to working closely with the Centre to ensure timely execution and faster completion of the project.
