The Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) is launching GIS-based master plans for towns in central Tamil Nadu. These include Ariyalur, Perambalur, Manapparai, Thuraiyur, Jayamkondam, Sirkali, and more. The goal is to guide future growth and ensure efficient urban management.

The DTCP has issued tenders to hire consultants for this project. The planning areas span 147.56 sq. km in Ariyalur, 67.13 sq. km in Perambalur, 82.92 sq. km in Manapparai, 51.50 sq. km in Thuraiyur, and 55.60 sq. km in Jayamkondam. These plans will focus on efficient land use and sustainable development.

Consultants will gather GIS-based data, conduct surveys, and engage stakeholders. Their tasks include zoning land for residential, commercial, and industrial use. They will also forecast infrastructure needs and suggest solutions for climate change and environmental management.

In addition, the plans will address heritage conservation, disaster management, and solid waste handling. Urban design guidelines will improve mobility, infrastructure, and utilities. Furthermore, tourism and waterfront development will receive special attention.

The consultants will perform baseline studies to analyze demographics, environment, and physical features. They will identify gaps in existing studies and create a strong master plan.

These master plans will enhance decision-making and ensure sustainable growth. The DTCP aims to build modern, resilient towns in central Tamil Nadu by addressing current and future challenges.
