Hyderabad’s fast growing IT corridor is set for a major infrastructure upgrade as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has commenced work on a Rs 500 crore multi level flyover at the busy IIIT Junction. The project aims to transform one of the city’s most congested intersections into a seamless signal free interchange by May 2028.

Located along the Outer Ring Road growth corridor, the IIIT Junction witnesses nearly four to five lakh commuters every day. Long queues during peak hours have become a daily routine for employees, students and residents travelling between Gachibowli, Lingampally, ISB Road and DLF Road. The new infrastructure plan is designed to significantly reduce waiting time and improve traffic efficiency.

The proposal includes a two level flyover system along with an underpass to ensure uninterrupted vehicle movement. Authorities have initiated pillar construction and preparatory works while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing traffic. Utility shifting, tree transplantation and phased diversions are being executed to maintain steady vehicular flow during construction.

Officials state that once completed, the upgraded junction will not only decongest traffic but also enhance commuter safety and fuel efficiency. Improved connectivity is expected to support commercial growth across the IT and financial districts surrounding the corridor.

With Hyderabad continuing to expand as a technology and business hub, strategic transport infrastructure like the IIIT Junction multi level flyover is seen as critical to sustaining urban mobility. While short term inconvenience is inevitable, the long term benefits are expected to redefine daily commuting experience across the western corridor of the city.
