A six-acre plot of land in Selloor, Nagapattinam, has been identified for the establishment of the first TIDEL Park in Tamil Nadu. The land, located in the Ivanallur panchayat near the East Coast Road, is owned by the Sikkal Singavelavar temple under the HR&CE department. Minister for Industries, TRB Rajaa, visited the site and reviewed the proposal, which will now be forwarded to the Chief Minister for approval.

The proposed TIDEL Park, a joint venture between the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) and the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), comes in response to growing demand for such projects following the success of a similar park in Thanjavur. The Selloor site was selected primarily because the groundwater resources are saline and the land’s agrarian fertility is low, making it suitable for industrial development.

This new TIDEL Park in Nagapattinam is expected to boost the region’s economic growth by creating jobs and attracting investment, further strengthening Tamil Nadu’s status as a key player in the IT and electronics sectors.
