German Automation Giant Festo Opens ₹500-Cr Manufacturing Plant in Hosur, Plans 1,000+ Jobs

German industrial automation major Festo has inaugurated a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Hosur with an investment of ₹500 crore, marking a major step in its “local for local” strategy to expand regional operations and shorten supply chains.

Spread over 75 acres in Krishnagiri district, the new unit will manufacture high-end pneumatic automation products for the domestic and international markets. The facility is expected to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect employments in Phase-I, with plans for expansion on the anvil.

The announcement is in line with Festo’s pledge made at the Global Investors Meet 2024, where the firm committed ₹520 crore worth of investment and more than 2,000 new opportunities for Tamil Nadu.

Referring to the opening, Festo Management Board Chairman Thomas Böck commented, “With 100 years of Festo, this new factory reaffirms our commitment to India and our vision for sustainable development and leadership in technology.”

Festo is headquartered in Esslingen am Neckar, Germany, and supplies more than 300,000 customers in 35 industries with pneumatics and electric automation technology. The company achieved a turnover of €3.45 billion in 2024.

The Hosur plant marks a key milestone in Festo’s global strategy to boost regionalisation and build more resilient and emission-minimising supply chains. The company is also expanding its global R&D, production, and logistics footprints to respond faster to customer demands.

With this investment, Festo joins a growing list of global industrial players betting big on Tamil Nadu’s manufacturing potential, particularly in automation and high-tech components.
