An investment of ₹3520 cr from Dalmia Bharat cement in Maharashtra and Karnataka: Dalmia Bharat statement These acquisitions are being made through its subsidiaries as part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in western and southern India.

The expansions will involve Dalmia Bharat setting up a 3.6 million tonnes a year (mntpa) clinker unit and 3 mntpa grinding facility at its existing Belgaum facility in the southern state of Karnataka. The company would also establish a new greenfield split grinding unit of 3 mntpa in Pune, Maharashtra. The investment will be funded through a mix of debt and internal accruals, with the new facilities expected to come on stream in the fourth quarter of FY27.

The total installed cement capacity of the company will reach 55.5 mntpa (including 2.9 mntpa ongoing capacity expansion in Assam and Bihar). This is in line with Dalmia Bharat’s larger dream of coming out as a pan-India cement player — with a target capacity of 75 mntpa by FY28 and 110-130 mntpa capacity by 2031.

Expanding Market Reach

The Belgaum grinding unit will address this demand through better market penetration, catering to an undeveloped cement supply market in southern Maharashtra, and consequently enhancing Dalmia’s footprint in the region. This will help the company to tap the critical western Maharashtra market in which it felt growth potential remains largely unleveraged, It added that the Pune grinding unit will service this crucial market.

Commenting on the investment Puneet Dalmia, MD & CEO, Dalmia Bharat said, “This investment is a huge step forward in our Phase II expansion strategy. This brings us closer to the pan-India player position with 75 mntpa capacity by FY28. Situated in one of the most populous states of India, this modern facility will be a testament to its sustained focus on infrastructure development in Western India, to service its growing customer base. As the country sees a surge in infrastructure spending the expansion will help Dalmia Bharat satisfy surging demand and strengthen its position in India’s cement market.
