Brigade Group Expands Infopark Kochi with Third World Trade Center Tower

Brigade Group, a prominent real estate developer, has announced plans to develop a third tower at the World Trade Center (WTC) within Infopark Kochi. The company finalized a significant land lease agreement today, marking a milestone in the presence of Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, and other key officials including P. Rajeeve, Minister for Law, Industries, and Coir, and Dr. Rathan U. Kelkar, State IT Secretary.

This new venture represents a Rs 150-crore investment by Brigade Group and is set to be a 16-storey tower with a spacious car park spanning six decks. Situated on a non-SEZ plot, the tower will boast a built-up area of 2.6 lakh square feet (sqft). The project is expected to create approximately 2,700 direct job opportunities and is scheduled for completion within a three-year timeframe.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed optimism about the economic impact of this development, highlighting that since 2016, 583 new companies have established offices in Infopark Kochi, leading to the generation of 70,000 jobs. He emphasized that the addition of the third WTC tower would not only enhance Infopark’s stature but also bolster the entire IT sector within the state.

M R Jaishankar, Executive Chairman of Brigade Group, underscored the company’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Kerala to cater to the growing demand from IT and IT-enabled service companies. He noted that Brigade Group has already completed two WTC towers in Kochi, totaling a built-up area of 7.7 lakh sqft, with both towers fully occupied. These existing facilities currently house 37 companies and accommodate 8,000 employees. Jaishankar emphasized Brigade’s interest in continuing to invest in Kerala and exploring additional viable land parcels for future developments.

Brigade Group’s involvement in Kerala extends beyond WTC projects. They have also developed the luxury business hotel Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark, located in Infopark Phase 1. Additionally, the company is progressing with Brigade Square, a Grade A office building in Trivandrum’s Technopark Phase 1.

Brigade Group holds the license for six WTCs across South India, including Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, and Devanahalli. With a rich history spanning 38 years, the group has completed approximately 300 buildings covering 90 million square feet (msf) across various segments.

The announcement of the third WTC tower in Kochi reflects Brigade Group’s strategic vision to capitalize on the region’s burgeoning IT sector and contribute significantly to its infrastructure and economic growth. The project aligns with Kerala’s ambitions to strengthen its position as a hub for technology-driven businesses and innovation. This development is poised to enhance Kochi’s status as a prominent destination for IT companies, attracting further investments and fostering employment opportunities in the region. As the project progresses, it is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future landscape of Infopark Kochi and reinforcing Kerala’s position on India’s technology map.
