The Bengaluru Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) project is set to achieve a major milestone, with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) indicating that the key Hoskote-Hosur stretch may finally reach the Tamil Nadu border by June 2026. This development is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu while reducing pressure on Bengaluru’s already congested road network.

The 20.9-km stretch, which forms part of the larger STRR corridor, was initially scheduled for completion in February 2025. However, the project witnessed delays primarily due to pending approvals for a crucial rail overbridge near Hoskote. The bridge involves a 54-metre bowstring girder structure that must cross the busy Bengaluru-Chennai railway line near Lingadeeramallasandra.

According to NHAI sources, only around 650 metres of work remains pending on this stretch. The remaining work is largely dependent on final clearances from railway authorities, including inspections by signalling, electrical and technical teams. Once approvals are received, the final launch of the girder and completion of the pending section is expected to move swiftly.

This stretch is strategically important as it will connect directly to the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway and provide seamless access toward Hosur and the Tamil Nadu border. It is also expected to ease congestion on Old Madras Road and Sarjapur Road, two of Bengaluru’s most heavily used traffic corridors.

Once operational, the Hoskote-Hosur section will take the total functional length of the STRR to 102.6 km. The full 288-km ring road is designed to divert long-distance commercial traffic away from the city, reducing travel time for logistics operators and improving urban mobility.

For industries, logistics parks and real estate developments in the Bengaluru-Hosur growth corridor, this project is likely to act as a major catalyst. The improved road infrastructure is expected to strengthen freight movement and support industrial expansion across South India.
