The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) has announced a significant tender for the development of key infrastructure facilities at its campus located in Atchutapuram, Visakhapatnam. The project, valued at approximately ₹225.77 crore, is being undertaken under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Mode-I turnkey model.
According to the tender details, the scope of work includes the construction of an engineering hall, a science laboratory building, and a substation, along with all associated infrastructure. The project also encompasses complete civil, structural, electrical, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), firefighting, plumbing, and other internal and external works required to make the buildings fully functional and ready for occupation.
This initiative is part of BARC’s broader infrastructure expansion plan to strengthen its research and development capabilities in Andhra Pradesh. The proposed facilities at Atchutapuram are expected to support advanced scientific research, technology development, and experimental activities. Once completed, the project will serve as a hub for innovation, scientific studies, and atomic energy-related research in the southern region.
The EPC turnkey mode ensures that a single contractor will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, and execution of all construction activities, ensuring efficiency and accountability throughout the project’s lifecycle. The selected contractor will have to adhere to strict quality and safety standards, given the nature and importance of BARC’s research activities.
Interested and eligible bidders can access detailed tender documents and specifications through the official BARC e-procurement portal. The deadline for submission of bids is December 1, 2025.
This project is expected to boost employment opportunities and stimulate construction activity in and around Visakhapatnam, further contributing to Andhra Pradesh’s growing infrastructure sector. It also aligns with India’s continued efforts to enhance its atomic research ecosystem and promote indigenous scientific advancements.
