Andhra Pradesh lays the foundation stone of the ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel (AM&NS) integrated steel plant in Anakapalli district in October 2025, expecting that full-scale operations will start by the end of the year 2028.
Industrial and Commercial Minister TG Bharat said that out of about 6,000 acres required for the project, nearly 6,000 acres had already been secured. The clearance on the pollution front is expected by September, thus enabling one of the biggest industrial investments in the state in recent years.
This is part of the newly revived industrial push by the government under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Other than the AM&NS project, the government is pursuing vigorously the revival of the long-stalled Kadapa steel plant under the Jindal Group-imposed responsibility as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014.
Revival of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), which has been facing financial woes, according to Bharat, is still on the priority list, and fresh initiatives are underway to keep its viability alive.
Besides steel, Andhra Pradesh is speeding ahead in other areas. The recent clearances, from 100 crore to 5,000 crore, have swept across segment investments in solar, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors.
Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace is also negotiating to set up a testing facility at Sriharikota, which will be an asset to the state in emerging space-tech. Meanwhile, South Korean and Taiwanese companies are negotiating for semiconductor manufacturing hubs.
The state government’s new AP Industrial Development Policy 4.0 (2024-29) aims to fast-track all these developments with faster approvals, infrastructure support, and incentives to position Andhra Pradesh as the most business-friendly destination in India.
Andhra Pradesh is fast securing itself as a hub for high-value manufacturing and global partnerships as it strides forward with Naidu’s industrial vision.
