Andhra Pradesh Moves Ahead with One GW AI Data Centre by Adani Infra and Google

The Andhra Pradesh government has advanced its digital infrastructure strategy by allocating 480 acres of land in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli for a one gigawatt artificial intelligence data centre to be developed by Adani Infra in partnership with Google. The decision marks a shift from the earlier allocation made to Raiden Infotech India and reflects the state’s vision to support large scale technology investments that can meet India’s rising AI infrastructure requirements. Officials noted that the revised allocation aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to position itself as a major hub for next generation data capabilities.

According to the detailed project report submitted earlier, the development will follow global benchmarks for quality, safety, sustainability, and data handling standards. Over a five year period the project partners plan to build a comprehensive AI ecosystem that includes high density computing facilities, advanced cooling systems, scalable data clusters, and efficient power management designed for intensive AI workloads. A key component of the plan is a subsea cable network that will strengthen global data connectivity and help deliver faster and more reliable digital services across the country.

Google’s AI hub in Visakhapatnam will be designed as a long term investment programme focused on expanding compute capacity, supporting enterprise cloud growth, and enabling research opportunities in artificial intelligence. The project will be supported by ecosystem partners such as AdaniConneX and Airtel, ensuring a wider digital backbone that benefits multiple industries including healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, financial services, and retail. The integration of clean energy solutions is expected to reduce operational emissions and position the facility as a sustainable technology investment for the region.

For Andhra Pradesh, the project is expected to generate skilled employment, attract allied technology businesses, and contribute to the state’s overall digital transformation agenda. The large scale nature of the investment also reinforces the growing importance of AI infrastructure in India’s broader economic strategy. With strong global partnerships and a clear implementation roadmap, the one gigawatt data centre stands as a decisive step toward building a future ready digital foundation for the country.
