In a significant push to the growth of Amaravati, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) approved ₹1,732 crore worth of infrastructure tenders for the city’s core capital precinct. This decision was made during CRDA’s 47th meeting under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s chairmanship.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana confirmed that the approved tenders cover housing, civic utilities, and transport infrastructure, reviving long-pending projects originally launched between 2014 and 2019.
Of the total outlay, ₹514 crore will go toward completing Gazetted Officers’ residential towers, while ₹194 crore has been allocated for external infrastructure surrounding nine towers intended for non-gazetted employees. An additional ₹517 crore will fund the construction of twelve new residential towers equipped with essential amenities.
The CRDA has also cleared ₹561 crores for a 190 million-litre-per-day water treatment plant (WTP), including a five-year operation and maintenance contract. To further strengthen urban water infrastructure, ₹495 crore has been sanctioned for overhead storage tanks across the capital area.
Transport infrastructure will see a ₹455 crore injection, aimed at extending major roads in the E-3, E-13, and E-15 corridors. A crucial segment along the E-3 seed axis will link Amaravati to the national highway network, improving regional access and economic flow.
Beyond infrastructure, land allocations have been finalised for several key institutions. This includes 55 acres for a law university and 15 acres for an Ayurvedic university. Other allocations include plots for the Income Tax Department, Indian Red Cross Society, Coastal Bank, and IRCTC Hotels. The Siddhartha Medical Institute has also been granted an additional six acres to expand its proposed medical college.
The CRDA’s latest approvals signal a renewed push to establish Amaravati as a functional and vibrant capital, years after momentum had stalled on several fronts.
