In an important boost for Amaravati’s infrastructure, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) sanctioned ₹ 24,276 crore for development in critical amenities such as trunk roads, the High Court complex, the State Assembly, and some iconic towers. These approvals were awarded during CRDA’s 43rd meeting, held on Monday and presided over by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister P. Narayana informed reporters that all capital city projects are slated for completion within the next three years. He also noted that CRDA’s approvals over the past four meetings now total ₹45,249 crore.

The other major development is that an Assembly building was built as an instance of an architectural landmark, 250 meters tall on 11.22 lakh square feet on 103 acres. When the Assembly is not in session, it will offer visitors panoramic views of Amaravati from the upper floors.

The CRDA also approved the construction of the High Court complex and Administrative Department building. The eight-story High Court will span 20.32 lakh square feet on 42 acres, costing ₹1,048 crore. Additionally, a 47-story Administrative building will occupy 17.03 lakh square feet. Enhancing the city’s skyline, five iconic towers covering 68.88 lakh square feet will be built at a cost of ₹4,688 crore.

Infrastructure development is equally prioritized, with plans for four highways and road networks extending 579.5 km, to be constructed at ₹9,699 crore. An additional ₹7,794 crore has been allocated for trunk roads, and ₹318 crore for sewage treatment plants (STPs).

The tender process for these projects is set to commence next week, with Minister Narayana assuring that all tender formalities will be completed by January 2025. The government has also pledged inclusive development across all 29 capital villages involved in the land pooling initiative. Construction will begin only after addressing all legal and technical concerns to prevent delays.

This comprehensive plan positions Amaravati to become a world-class capital city, significantly advancing infrastructure and regional development in Andhra Pradesh.
