Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana asserted on Tuesday that within three years of his tenure, the capital development works in Amaravati would be completed unhindered by political opposition and critique.
This was part of his review of major infrastructural sites such as Sakamuru reservoir, Kondaveeti Vagu, Gravity Canal, and Anantavaram Park. Narayana reiterated the commitment of the state government to building Amaravati as a world-class capital and said work was going on, including the construction of 4,000 houses for government employees, whose delivery is expected in March 2026. Road and drainage systems are also nearing completion.
The Minister added that the layout road designs would be finalised by IIT experts by the end of August. Canal widening and deepening works are underway on Kondaveeti Vagu (23.6 km), Palavagu (16.5 km), and Gravity Canal (7.84 km) to mitigate future flooding. Meanwhile, reservoirs at Sakamuru, Krishnayapalem, and Neerukonda with a combined capacity of 0.53 rmc ft are under construction.
On the pending lease payments for land pooled from farmers, Narayana acknowledged that around 900 farmers were yet to receive dues due to issues like incorrect bank details or land transfers. “These are being addressed,” he said, noting that over 18,000 of the 25,000 affected farmers have already been paid.
Responding to opposition claims that Amaravati projects are stalled, Narayana invited critics to see the progress firsthand. He underlined the state’s vision to develop 30% of the capital area under the “Blue-Green Capital” initiative and confirmed that the Krishna Riverfront development would commence shortly.
Highlighting renewed international collaboration, Narayana revealed that Singapore will send officials to Amaravati within 10 days. “Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is reviving partnerships that were strained under the previous government,” he said.
Narayana was joined during the inspection by Amaravati Development Corporation Chairperson Lakshmi Parthasaradhi, CRDA Chief Engineer Gopalakrishna Reddy, CEO Dhanunjaya, and representatives of contracting agencies.
