Century Plyboards (India) Ltd. has inaugurated a new plywood manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, as the company looks to expand its production capacity and strengthen its presence across northern India. The greenfield plant, developed with a planned investment of approximately ₹215 crore across two phases, is expected to improve product availability and supply-chain efficiency in key regional markets.
Spread across 27 acres, the facility will initially have an annual production capacity of 60,000 cubic metres (CBM). CenturyPly plans to increase this to 100,000 cubic metres within the next six months through the second phase of development. At full capacity, the plant is expected to generate annual revenue of approximately ₹600 crore.
The investment includes ₹180 crore for the first phase, with the remaining amount earmarked for the second phase. The facility is CenturyPly’s seventh plywood manufacturing plant in India, adding to its existing network across several states.
New Plant to Serve Northern Markets
The Hoshiarpur location is expected to help the company serve customers across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Its proximity to established timber and plywood markets, skilled workers and major consumption centres is expected to support faster deliveries and more responsive distribution.
The expansion comes as CenturyPly’s existing plywood manufacturing network operates at high capacity utilisation. The additional facility is intended to create more production headroom while supporting demand across northern and north-western India.
Automation and Sustainability Measures
The plant incorporates automated production systems and quality-control processes. It also includes centralised dust collection, wastewater treatment facilities and provisions for rooftop solar power generation.
CenturyPly has designed the facility to use wood waste generated during production as fuel, supporting resource efficiency and waste reuse. These measures form part of the plant’s broader approach to operational efficiency and responsible manufacturing.
The project is also expected to create more than 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities through manufacturing, vendors and allied activities, potentially supporting local skills and livelihoods.
Capacity Expansion Linked to Demand
Nikita Bansal, Executive Director of Century Plyboards (India) Ltd., said the facility would bring manufacturing closer to customers and improve the company’s ability to respond to changing market requirements. She also highlighted the planned capacity increase as a way to align production with demand.
The Hoshiarpur plant represents a further step in CenturyPly’s manufacturing expansion. Its contribution will depend on the planned capacity ramp-up, regional demand and the company’s ability to improve supply and delivery timelines across northern markets.
