DN Solutions opens first India manufacturing plant in Bengaluru with ₹600 crore investment

South Korean machine tool manufacturer DN Solutions has started manufacturing operations in India with the inauguration of its first plant at the Bengaluru ITIR Industrial Area in Karnataka. The facility marks the company’s first overseas manufacturing investment since it established its Yantai plant in China in 2003.

The company has invested ₹600 crore, or about US$62 million, in the first phase of the Bengaluru facility. DN Solutions is considering investments of a similar scale in future phases, depending on market demand and business growth.

Spread across 25 acres, the facility has been designed as more than a manufacturing unit. It will bring together production, research and development, technical services and training, strengthening the company’s presence in India’s growing advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Initial production will focus on machines developed for the Indian market, including the SVM series of vertical machining centres and LYNX and LEO series horizontal turning centres. DN Solutions is also evaluating the production of advanced five-axis machines as part of future expansion.

The company sees India not only as a key domestic market but also as a potential export base over the longer term. Bengaluru was selected for its established engineering, technology, automation and industrial ecosystem, along with access to skilled talent.

Local sourcing is another important part of the investment. DN Solutions has already achieved around 80% localisation by parts count and plans to source most components from India within the next five years, apart from spindle assemblies. The company is also working with local MSMEs and plans to introduce a formal supplier development programme in 2027.

The facility will house an R&D centre that will collaborate with DN Solutions’ research institutes in South Korea, Germany and China. A technical centre will enable customers to conduct test cuts and identify suitable machining solutions.

The company also plans to expand its workforce in India. Direct employment is expected to rise from around 240 currently to approximately 500 employees.

The investment comes as demand for precision machine tools rises across automotive, aerospace, electronics, semiconductors, medical equipment, shipbuilding and defence manufacturing. By increasing local production, technical support and sourcing, DN Solutions is positioning Bengaluru as an important base for its long-term India strategy.
