Japan-based water treatment solutions provider Daiki Axis has announced plans to invest around ₹200 crore to establish its third manufacturing facility in India at Tumakuru, Karnataka. The investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to supporting India’s growing demand for sustainable wastewater treatment infrastructure while expanding its local manufacturing capabilities under the Make in India initiative.

The new facility will be developed and operated by Daiki Axis India, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary. The plant will manufacture and assemble sewage treatment systems using the company’s proprietary Johkasou technology, a decentralised wastewater treatment solution developed in Japan. The technology enables domestic sewage to be treated at the source, reducing dependence on large sewer networks while promoting water recycling and reuse.

According to the company, India generates more than 72 billion litres of sewage every day. However, wastewater treatment infrastructure remains inadequate in several regions, resulting in a significant volume of untreated sewage entering rivers, lakes and other water bodies. The proposed manufacturing facility is expected to improve the availability of advanced treatment systems and support the country’s efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability.

The Tumakuru plant will also reduce dependence on imported equipment, improve delivery timelines and strengthen the domestic supply chain for wastewater treatment solutions. Karnataka has emerged as a preferred manufacturing destination due to its industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce and excellent connectivity, making Tumakuru an ideal location for the company’s next phase of expansion.

Daiki Axis currently operates manufacturing facilities in Vadodara, Gujarat, and Palwal, Haryana. The addition of the Karnataka unit will significantly expand its production footprint and improve its ability to serve customers across southern and western India.

With increasing urbanisation, industrial growth and stricter environmental regulations, demand for advanced sewage treatment technologies is expected to rise steadily across the country. Investments such as this not only strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem but also contribute to improving water conservation, environmental protection and sustainable infrastructure development. The new facility is expected to play an important role in supporting India’s long-term wastewater management goals while creating new opportunities for industrial growth and employment in Karnataka.
