The MEPZ Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has approved a fresh set of industrial and business projects worth more than ₹450 crore across Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Puducherry, further strengthening the region’s growing industrial ecosystem.

The approvals were cleared by the Unit Approval Committee (UAC) of MEPZ SEZ, chaired by Arthur Worchuiyo, Joint Development Commissioner, MEPZ. The newly approved projects span sectors including IT and IT-enabled services, warehousing and logistics, engineering services, nutraceuticals and footwear manufacturing.

According to officials, the projects are expected to generate around 6,650 employment opportunities across the Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Puducherry region, also referred to as the TAP region.

One of the major approvals was granted to Grand Atlantia Panapakkam SEZ Developers Private Limited, which will establish its SEZ unit at SIPCOT SEZ in Panapakkam, Ranipet district. The project involves an investment of around ₹385 crore and is projected to create employment for nearly 5,180 people.

Another important approval was given to Impex for setting up its SEZ unit at SIPCOT SEZ in Bargur. The project is expected to generate around 905 jobs.

Tamilnadu Nutraceutical Innovation Hub Private Limited also secured approval to establish its SEZ unit at the Integrated Chennai Business Park India Private Limited FTWZ in Ponneri. The facility is expected to create employment opportunities for around 169 people.

Industry experts believe the latest approvals reflect the increasing momentum in Tamil Nadu’s industrial and export-oriented sectors. The steady expansion of SEZ projects is also expected to support regional economic growth, strengthen manufacturing activity and attract more investments into emerging industrial corridors.

With diversified sectors contributing to employment generation and industrial development, MEPZ SEZ continues to play a key role in supporting India’s export ecosystem and infrastructure-led growth across South India and adjoining regions.d
