RITES Ltd has issued a major construction tender for the development of a new outpatient department building at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) campus in Bengaluru. The project, valued at ₹300.77 crore, is expected to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve patient care capacity at one of India’s premier medical institutions.
According to the tender notification, the project will be executed under EPC Mode III, covering complete design, engineering, procurement and construction responsibilities. The scope of work includes civil construction, structural development, internal systems, utilities and associated infrastructure required for advanced healthcare operations.
The proposed OPD building is expected to significantly improve outpatient handling capacity at the NIMHANS campus, which currently receives patients from Karnataka and several neighbouring states. With growing demand for neurological and mental healthcare services, the expansion is seen as an important infrastructure upgrade for the institute.
The project is planned with a completion timeline of 24 months from the date of award. Once operational, the new facility is expected to enhance patient accessibility, streamline hospital operations and support future medical expansion plans at the Bengaluru campus.
RITES, a leading engineering consultancy and project management company under the Ministry of Railways, has been actively involved in executing infrastructure projects across sectors including transportation, healthcare and institutional development. The latest tender reflects increasing investments in India’s public healthcare infrastructure sector.
Bengaluru continues to witness strong growth in healthcare infrastructure development, driven by rising urban demand, medical tourism and expanding institutional facilities. Projects such as the NIMHANS OPD expansion are also expected to create opportunities for contractors, engineering firms and construction material suppliers.
Interested bidders can submit their proposals for the project until June 1, 2026. Industry observers believe the project will become one of the key healthcare infrastructure developments currently underway in Karnataka.
