Saint Gobain India has taken a significant step towards strengthening industry academia collaboration in the construction sector by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Academy of Construction Andhra Pradesh in the presence of Director General G Ganesh Kumar to promote advanced skill development and practical training initiatives nationwide.
The partnership reflects a growing recognition that modern construction demands specialised skills aligned with evolving technologies and materials. Through this collaboration both institutions aim to bridge the gap between classroom learning and on site application while creating structured pathways for youth to enter the organised construction workforce across India effectively.
As part of the agreement a dedicated False Ceiling and Drywall Technology Lab will be established in Amaravati. The facility is envisioned as a Centre of Excellence where vocational trainees engineers and contractors can gain hands on exposure to contemporary interior systems and lightweight construction solutions for real world projects.
Officials noted that demand for skilled installers in drywall and false ceiling applications is rising rapidly as commercial residential and infrastructure projects expand across urban centres. By investing in structured training Saint Gobain India aims to create a steady pipeline of certified professionals ready to support this accelerating growth nationwide.
The initiative also underscores the importance of sustainable and efficient building practices in today’s construction landscape. Lightweight systems energy efficient materials and precision installation methods are becoming essential to meet cost quality and environmental expectations. Focused skill development will ensure that these standards are implemented consistently on project sites nationally.
Beyond infrastructure the collaboration is expected to enhance employability among young people by providing industry recognised certification and exposure to global best practices. It also strengthens the broader vision of building a future ready workforce capable of adapting to technological change and supporting India’s expanding construction economy at scale sustainably.
With the MoU now formalised both organisations will work closely to implement the laboratory training programs and outreach initiatives in phases. The partnership represents a meaningful step toward deeper collaboration between industry and academia and sets a benchmark for similar models in the construction sector across the country in future.
