TVS Supply Chain Solutions has secured a three-year contract from Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) to manage in-plant warehouse operations at the company’s manufacturing facility in Chennai, marking a significant win in the automotive logistics space.
Under the agreement, TVS Supply Chain Solutions will handle end-to-end warehouse management within DICV’s plant, covering material receipt, storage, inventory control and line-side supply. The engagement is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted material flow to support vehicle production while improving overall operational efficiency and quality standards at the facility.
The company said it will deploy a technology-driven operating model to deliver the mandate. This includes the use of IoT-enabled tracking systems to provide real-time visibility of materials, automation solutions to reduce manual handling, predictive analytics to improve demand planning and inventory optimisation, and digital dashboards to monitor performance metrics. These initiatives are expected to help DICV enhance productivity, reduce turnaround time and improve supply chain reliability.
Around 700 employees from TVS Supply Chain Solutions will be deployed at the Chennai facility to manage the operations, underscoring the scale of the contract. The deployment is also expected to strengthen DICV’s manufacturing ecosystem by ensuring consistent availability of components and minimising production disruptions.
Industry experts note that automotive manufacturers are increasingly relying on specialised logistics partners to manage complex in-plant operations, particularly as production systems become more technology-intensive. For supply chain companies, such long-term contracts provide revenue visibility and help deepen relationships with global original equipment manufacturers.
TVS Supply Chain Solutions said the partnership reflects its focus on delivering integrated, technology-led logistics solutions tailored to the needs of global automotive players. The company has been expanding its presence across manufacturing-led supply chains, leveraging digital tools to improve efficiency and cost competitiveness.
For Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, the collaboration aligns with its objective of strengthening operational excellence at its Chennai plant, which plays a key role in its commercial vehicle production strategy for the domestic and export markets.
The contract further reinforces TVS Supply Chain Solutions’ position as a key player in India’s automotive logistics sector, at a time when manufacturers are prioritising efficiency, scalability and resilience across their supply chains.
