TIDCO Invites Tenders to Develop ₹500 Crore International Cricket Stadium in Coimbatore

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) has invited tenders under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model for developing a world-class international cricket stadium and integrated commercial complex in Coimbatore. This ambitious project, valued at approximately ₹500 crore, is expected to significantly boost the city’s sporting and commercial ecosystem.

Planned to come up on a 30-acre site in Ondipudur, the stadium will be designed to host around 30,000 spectators. It will feature advanced sporting infrastructure, training academies, and player amenities that align with global standards. The facility is envisioned not only as a venue for international and domestic cricket tournaments but also as a multi-use sports and entertainment complex.

According to officials, the project will include a commercial zone with retail spaces, food courts, and leisure amenities, ensuring long-term financial viability under the PPP framework. TIDCO’s initiative aims to attract private participation while ensuring that the state’s vision of promoting Coimbatore as a leading sports hub is achieved sustainably.

Industry experts believe that the establishment of this stadium will enhance Tamil Nadu’s reputation in hosting international sporting events. Coimbatore, already known for its strong industrial and educational base, is now positioning itself as an emerging sports and entertainment destination.

The government’s focus on regional infrastructure development has created fresh opportunities for urban expansion, real estate growth, and tourism in western Tamil Nadu.
