Telangana government has made up its mind to build a 1,000-acre Electronic City (E-City) under its ambitious ‘Future City’ project to transform the state into a national hub of electronics manufacturing and innovation.

The announcement was made by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu after a meeting with officials of Taiwan-based Sera Networks and Hyderabad’s LCGC Resolute Group. The two companies have formed a joint venture and committed an investment of ₹300 crore to establish a cutting-edge electronics manufacturing unit in Telangana.

The new 10-acre facility will be used for the production of advanced telecommunication gears, including 5G network devices, multi-layered networking devices, and servers. The company will create about 2,500 high-paying jobs.

As the central part of the whole Future City project, Electronic City will be a networked society of research, innovation, and mass production. The government is attempting to attract domestic and foreign organizations to locate themselves within this network, benefiting from India’s growing demand for electronic hardware and digital infrastructure.

To promote industrial growth, the state government has decided to form a special task force to streamline procedures and avoid bureaucratic hold-ups in setting up manufacturing units. Sridhar Babu, Minister, also spoke about the inclusion policy by extending special incentives to industries establishing themselves in tier-II and tier-III cities.

“Telangana is all set to build world-class industrial infrastructure which would cater to the specific requirements of every company,” Sridhar Babu said, adding that Telangana was set to facilitate rapid project implementation by good governance.

The Electronic City would be a milestone in Telangana’s quest towards next-generation manufacturing, setting it as an industry-friendly and forward-looking state in India’s technocratic economy.
