Tata Steel Unveils India’s First Mobile Bore Pile Cage Machine and Automated Construction Service Centre in Assam

Tata Steel has set a significant milestone in India’s construction landscape with the launch of its first Mobile Bore Pile Cage Machine and a fully automated Construction Service Centre in Guwahati, Assam. These initiatives mark the company’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth in North-East India’s infrastructure sector.

The Mobile Bore Pile Cage Machine, developed in collaboration with TJK India, a global leader in reinforcement automation, brings India’s first site-based solution for large-scale infrastructure projects. Designed to manufacture reinforcement cages directly on-site, the machine enhances production speed, ensures high precision, and reduces construction costs and labour dependency. This innovation is particularly valuable in regions like the North-East, where challenging terrain and logistical complexities often slow down construction operations.

In addition to the mobile machine, Tata Steel inaugurated its fully automated Construction Service Centre in Guwahati in partnership with SM Corporation Limited. The centre has a production capacity of 2,000 tonnes per month and will initially focus on Tiscon ReadyBuild – pre-engineered cut-and-bend Tata Tiscon TMT rebars with coupler threading. Plans are in place to expand the facility’s portfolio to include welded wire mesh and other downstream solutions, making it a one-stop hub for comprehensive construction support.

Speaking at the inauguration, Ashish Anupam, Vice President – Long Products, Tata Steel, emphasized the importance of strengthening infrastructure in North-East India. “Launching the Mobile Bore Pile Cage Machine in Assam, supported by our Guwahati Service Centre, underlines our commitment to innovative, value-added solutions tailored for the region,” he said.

The launch was celebrated with a ‘Converse to Construct’ event, attended by over 100 architects, engineers, and construction professionals, featuring discussions on new technologies in road construction by CSIR-Central Road Research Institute.

With this strategic expansion, Tata Steel continues to drive transformation in the construction sector, delivering efficient, precise, and sustainable reinforcement solutions across India. The Guwahati facility joins a growing network of 31 digitally connected service centres, collectively advancing ready-to-use reinforcement solutions and supporting India’s rapidly evolving infrastructure landscape.
