Set to transform the luxury living landscape in Chennai, Taj Sky View Hotel & Residences is the world’s first branded residence from the esteemed Taj Group. An envisioned facility, designed by the hybrid experts at R&B, a partnership between Ampa Group and Bharathi Meraki that-sponsored, ultra-luxury residences, a five-star Taj hotel and premium offices to India.
Luxury Living, Every Day:
Ampa Palaniappan, Managing Director, Ampa Group and Arun Bharathi, Managing Director, Bharathi Meraki, tell The Economic Times in an exclusive interview.
“This development is built to bring a real five-star living to the residential space,” added Palaniappan. While premium services at luxury properties may be limited to common areas, Taj Sky View brings comprehensive five-star hospitality into the residents’ homes — from concierge services to maintenance — to bring the property to the forefront of the market.
Why Chennai? A Growing Luxury Market:
The location and timing of the project is no accident. The luxury housing segment of Chennai is booming, with 160 luxury units sold thus far in 2023, higher than the 2022 figures (CBRE India, 2024). A survey conducted by India Sotheby’s International Realty also noted that the willingness of 65% of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) to invest in homes worth between ₹4 to ₹10 crore.
But despite the demand, Bharathi saw an opportunity: “Chennai’s affluent have been buying Bengaluru’s luxury projects as they have had no choice here. Taj Sky View addresses this barrier by providing an exclusive luxury lifestyle in the city.”
Residences, Mixed-Use Luxury Destination:
Taj Sky View designed with luxury in mind offers home and beyond home boutique office spaces (2,500-5,000 sq. ft.), ideally suited for upscale professionals and businesses. “It adds value to these workspaces to have five-star service,” Palaniappan said.
The development also includes a 252-room Taj hotel, bringing together hospitality, business, and home in a single ecosystem of luxury.
A Historic Partnership & Investment Opportunity:’
It is the Taj Group’s first foray into branded residences ( a decision that took much painstaking effort). Getting Taj on board to do the project was a hard sell, but it paid off, Palaniappan said.
With this project being only 18 months into its soft opening and full operations slated for late 2027, the project has already experienced a 50% price appreciation. Taj Sky View is a perfect synergy between location, structure, and amenities and one can expect it to become a timeless luxury landmark with high-ended amenities that range from climate-controlled sports courts to an IIT-certified structure that’s built to last over 100 years.
In summary, Bharathi added, “Whether you create an investment here or reside here, you reap that benefit.”
