Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield Sets New Benchmark in Durable Ready-Mix Concrete Solutions

Nuvoco Vistas Corp has strengthened its position in India’s building materials market with the launch of Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield, a high-performance ready-mix concrete solution focused on long-term structural durability. Part of the flagship Nuvoco Concreto portfolio, the new product addresses growing concerns around premature deterioration of buildings caused by aggressive environmental conditions.

Across India, structures are increasingly exposed to challenges such as high chloride content in borewell water and coastal air, rapid carbonation driven by urban pollution, and sulphate-rich soil and groundwater. These factors accelerate corrosion of reinforcement steel, cracking, and loss of structural strength over time. Nuvoco Concreto Tri Shield has been engineered specifically to counter these risks through an integrated, three-layer durability mechanism.

The Chloride Shield limits chloride penetration by around 50 percent compared to standard concrete, significantly reducing the risk of steel corrosion. The Carbonation Shield slows carbonation rates and helps maintain steel passivity, achieving nearly 50 percent lower carbonation depth. Completing the system, the Sulphate Shield resists sulphate-induced expansion and cracking in foundations, basements, and soil-contact elements, also delivering a reduction of about 50 percent over conventional concrete.

Working together, these three protective layers enhance overall durability and can extend the service life of structures by nearly 50 percent when compared with standard concrete mixes. The performance of Concreto Tri Shield has been validated at Nuvoco’s Construction Development and Innovation Centre, which is NABL-accredited and aligned with Indian and international durability standards, including IS and ASTM benchmarks. Advanced simulations using sophisticated modelling tools have further supported these results.

According to the company, the product is well suited for projects where durability and lifecycle value are critical. These include commercial complexes, hotels, hospitals, educational institutions, and other captive-use or leased assets where long-term performance and reduced maintenance cycles are essential.
