India’s Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) is reinforcing its position as a key player in the stainless-steel industry with robust growth, global expansion and sustainability initiatives. Founded as part of the O P Jindal Group, the company commands an annual revenue of around US $4.75 billion and is aiming to boost its annual melt capacity to 4.2 million tonnes by FY27.
With manufacturing complexes in Haryana (Hisar) and Odisha (Jajpur), JSL serves critical sectors including railways, defence, automobiles, industrial fabrication and infrastructure construction. Its product portfolio spans slabs, hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils, plates and specialized grades such as razor-blade steel and coin blanks.
Internationally, JSL exports to over 60 countries and operates through global subsidiaries such as Iberjindal (Spain) and PT Jindal Stainless (Indonesia). In 2024 it also entered a joint venture to develop a melt shop in Indonesia with 1.2 MTPA capacity, adding over 40 % to its melting capacity.
On the sustainability front, JSL has set an ambitious target of becoming emission-free by 2050 and is investing in wind-solar hybrid projects and green-hydrogen solutions at its plants. The company has already achieved reductions in CO₂ emissions and is driving recyclable-steel adoption and circular-economy practices.
Crucially for the construction and real-estate sectors, JSL’s stainless solutions underpin infrastructure applications from building cladding, metro and rail corridors to architectural finishes and durable façade systems. It also supports lifestyle segments via its retail arm, offering premium stainless-steel kitchen & street-furniture solutions.
For editors at Build Watch News tracking real-estate and infrastructure supply-chains, Jindal Stainless represents a strategic link: strong domestic demand, global scale, product innovation and sustainable manufacturing combine to position the firm as a key supplier to India’s growth in infrastructure and construction.
