Construction material prices across South India have remained steady this week, reflecting balanced demand and supply in the regional market. According to the latest data from the Builders Association of India (Southern Centre), most key materials such as cement, steel, sand, and bricks have shown minimal price movement.
In the cement segment, wholesale prices are currently around ₹305 per 50 kg bag (for bulk orders of 300 bags), while retail prices stand at ₹320 per bag. Market sources note that cement demand remains moderate, supported by ongoing housing and infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala.
Steel prices have also maintained stability, with TMT bars (8mm and 32mm) priced at approximately ₹58,000 per tonne and mid-range sizes (12mm to 25mm) at ₹56,500 per tonne. The steady pricing indicates consistent procurement activity among contractors and developers.
Brick prices are unchanged, standing at ₹40,000 per truckload (3,000 units). Meanwhile, sand prices continue to show balance, with P-Sand costing ₹70 per cubic foot and M-Sand priced at ₹60 per cubic foot.
Overall, experts predict a stable cost trend in the near term, supported by regular supply and sustained construction demand across South India.
