Chennai launches Quality Control Centre to monitor online patta transfers and land survey operations

The Tamil Nadu government has set up a state-of-the-art Quality Control Centre at the Chepauk Land Tax Project Office in Chennai to streamline and monitor online patta transfers and land survey operations. This initiative marks another step toward enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery related to land administration.

The new centre was inaugurated by Revenue Minister Sattur Ramachandran in the presence of senior officials, including Revenue Secretary Amudha, Land Administration Commissioner K.S. Palanisamy, and Land Survey Director Neebak Jacob. The facility is expected to act as a central monitoring hub for tracking the progress of online patta transfer applications and land measurement requests submitted through e-service centres across Tamil Nadu.

According to officials, the Quality Control Centre will oversee every stage of the online patta transfer process — from the time an application is filed to the final approval. The system will ensure that applications are processed promptly, preventing unnecessary delays. It will also monitor how long officials take to address land survey requests and display real-time statistics on a digital dashboard for senior officers to review.

By digitizing and centralizing monitoring, the centre aims to curb irregularities, eliminate long-pending applications, and enhance citizen satisfaction. Officials believe this initiative will significantly reduce manual errors and help maintain accurate digital land records in the ‘Tamil Nilam’ database.

The government’s focus on digital transformation in the land administration system is expected to improve efficiency and reduce corruption. The new centre aligns with Tamil Nadu’s broader e-governance mission to make all public services transparent and technology-driven.

With this initiative, Chennai takes a major step forward in ensuring faster, more reliable, and accountable land-related services for citizens, reinforcing trust in the state’s digital governance framework.
