BMW Industries Ltd and its wholly-owned subsidiary BMW Iron & Steel Industries have bagged a big order from Tata Steel for converting hot rolled (HR) coils into tubes. The value of the order totals ₹364.69 crore.

The conversion activity will be done at two locations: BMW Industries’ Hazibagan plant in Howrah and BMW Iron & Steel’s facility in Jamshedpur. The deal is effective until October 31, 2027, with BMW Industries performing a ₹188.60 crore share and the subsidiary undertaking ₹176.09 crore.

The firm intends to fulfill the orders employing its current infrastructure, emphasizing increasing operation efficiency and maintaining business growth for the next two years.

The Tata Steel deal is the latest as BMW Industries also continues to broaden its presence in the steel industry. At the center of this broadening presence is the construction of a ₹803.47 crore greenfield downstream steel complex in Bokaro, Jharkhand. The plant upon commissioning will manufacture high-grade specialty steel products such as coated and Al-Zn coated (Galvalume) for both the domestic and export markets.

BMW Industries views the Bokaro venture as a strategic move to increase its size in the value-added steel business. The plant also augments the firm’s long-term growth strategy by improving production capability and market coverage.

The concurrent developments the high-value order from Tata Steel and the forthcoming Bokaro complex reflect BMW Industries’ efforts to establish itself as a major player in India’s steel processing and manufacturing arena.
