A long time has lapsed since The Andhra Cricket Association, ACA has finally taken out the recent plan to design India’s largest stadium for cricket play. According to reports, this record-breaking stadium including 1.25 lakh spectators is said to surpass the world’s biggest Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

ACA president and Vijayawada MP, Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) said that the association has sought 60 acres from the state government to propose this project. The stadium will be an integral part of a larger sports city spread over 200 acres in Amaravati. “The stadium is not something for just playing matches. It’s a project that can place Amaravati on the global sporting map, Chinni said.

The ACA will raise funds for this project from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and raise the rest locally. “This stadium will set a new benchmark for cricket infrastructure and help put Amaravati on the global sports landscape,” Chinni said in a recent media interaction.

The ACA also plans to host the National Games in 2029 to be held at Amaravati, which further would contribute towards making the image of the city a sports destination. Further, in developing cricketing potential within the area, the ACA will be putting up three individual cricket academies in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada, and Rayalaseema, with the academy’s services from ex-Indian player Mithali Raj and another from Robin Singh, both to join for training purpose.

The ACA is also upgrading the modern facilities at Visakhapatnam Stadium, in which Indian Premier League matches would be held. Chinni is confident that these improved infrastructure facilities will groom local talent, and he can see at least 15 players from Andhra Pradesh making it to the IPL in the next two years.
