In a significant step for technological innovation in the construction sector, the Forum of Critical Utility Services (FOCUS), in association with CREDAI Chennai, recently hosted an event on the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in building design and construction.
(topic) The recent symposium ‘AI & ML – Transforming Building Design & Construction’ showcased engagement from key stakeholders from architecture, structural engineering, MEP, HVAC, insurance, risk mitigation, safety and facility management. Industry analysts shared how AI-led solutions can help drive efficiency, increase safety and enable sustainable growth in construction.
Dr. Satish Kumar, President of FOCUS, said, “The construction sector is in dire need of transformation and technology will be a game-changer in this regard.
Focusing on the theme of ‘AI & ML Transforming Building Design & Construction, ’ the event witnessed participation from Architects, Structural Engineers, MEP, HVAC, Insurance and risk mitigation, and Safety and Facility management stakeholders. Experts from the industry discussed how AI-based solutions can help the construction sectors to become more efficient, safer to work in, and grow sustainably.
Among those at the event were the central management team of FOCUS, its president, vice president, general secretary regional director and leaders from the Chennai Chapter. The president of CREDAI Chennai served as chief guest, highlighting the dedication of the real estate sector to embracing cutting-edge technology.
Now in its 14th year, FOCUS also recognized industry excellence even in times of change by honoring leading developers with its ‘Pillars of Progress’ initiative to celebrate their contributions toward a smarter and more resilient built environment.
“Increasing use of AI and ML will have a major impact on the industry,” Mohamed Ali, president of CREDAI Chennai, said on the occasion. “AI and ML are no longer the future they are the present.” These technologies are revolutionizing the way we design, construct, and maintain buildings. “We will always be open to supporting innovation and working together with industry leaders to contribute towards a smarter, safer, and more efficient construction ecosystem,” he said.
With AI-driven tools already playing a crucial role in design optimization, project management, and risk assessment, the event symbolized a major milestone on the path to wider integration of AI in the Indian real estate sector. With the construction industry being pushed towards a more efficient and sustainable direction, AI and ML will undoubtedly take centre stage when it comes to the future of urbanisation.
