Birla Opus Paints, a Grasim Industries subsidiary, has inaugurated its fourth manufacturing plant in Chamarajanagar, Mysore. This state-of-the-art facility, with an annual capacity of 230 million litres (MLPA), increases the company’s total production to 866 MLPA. With a planned investment of ₹10,000 crore, the company aims to establish six plants totaling 1,332 MLPA.
The new plant will produce water-based, enamel, and wood finish paints, enhancing the company’s product portfolio. It is specifically designed to meet the growing demand in South India. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, expressed optimism about achieving the ₹10,000 crore revenue target within three years.
Two additional plants are underway: the Mahad facility near Pune has entered trial production, while the Kharagpur plant near Kolkata progresses steadily. CEO Rakshit Hargave emphasized their commitment to innovation, ESG initiatives, and smart factory technologies.
To expand customer reach, Birla Opus Paints has also launched PaintCraft Partner, a franchisee-led painting services model.
