In a major boon for Bengaluru’s urban infrastructure, Embassy Office Parks REIT on Thursday announced a ₹100 crore investment for the development of Kadubeesanahalli Metro Station on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). This part of the project is one of the biggest ongoing projects by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to upgrade the city’s public transit system as part of the Metro ORR Project.

As per the deal, the new metro station will be called “Embassy TechVillage Kadubeesanahalli Metro Station” for 30 years from the date of commercial operation. This naming right reaffirms the value-additive investment Embassy REIT is making to further improve connectivity to the most prized business districts such as the award-winning Embassy TechVillage business park.

The Metro ORR Project, 17 kilometers long from Central Silk Board Junction to KR Puram, will have 16 stations aimed at easing the daily commute of thousands of residents and professionals. With the new connectivity, traffic congestion along this vital corridor that connects major IT Hub and housing complexes will decrease significantly.

Private Sector Mobilization (Public–Private Partnerships)

Ritwik Bhattacharjee, the Chief Executive Officer of Embassy REIT, said the evolution of infrastructure to compete against global hubs was paramount for a fast-growing city like Bengaluru. “Our commitment to solving the metropolis’ biggest challenges through strategic big-city investment in mobility solutions is reflected through our investment in the metro expansion,” he added. Bhattacharjee recalled other past initiatives, including spending over ₹180 crore for a flyover at the Embassy Manyata Business Park and about ₹30 crore for a footbridge for pedestrians, amidst plans to solve the traffic congestion as well as improving safety.

M Maheshwar Rao, Managing Director of BMRCL, welcomed the partnership, observing that the ORR corridor is a lifeline mobility route that links cities with commercial hubs, IT parks and residential regions. “Such collaborations expedite infrastructure expansion, therefore, making the city’s metro network more reasonable and sustainable,” he said.

The partnership between Embassy REIT and BMRCL is seen as an example of how effective public-private collaborations can address Bengaluru’s infrastructure challenges. Such initiatives will play a critical role in the business ecosystem of the city, which is ever-expanding, and the future of mobility in the city.
